About

Our story.

Parker & Jess Manuel

Called to Boulder in 2017.

Parker and Jess Manuel are the founders and lead pastors of Pinewood Church. In 2017, God called them to leave Nashville, Tennessee, and move to Boulder, Colorado, to plant a church with a simple mission: to meet people where they are and point them to Jesus.

Both Parker and Jess come from ministry families and have spent their lives serving the local church. They graduated from Liberty University with Bachelor of Science degrees in Religion with an emphasis in Biblical Studies. Parker has served in ministry for more than 20 years and has continued his theological education through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jess is currently pursuing her Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary while also serving as an author, speaker, and coach, equipping parents to disciple the next generation with biblical confidence.

Parker and Jess are parents to six beautiful children and they are passionate about building a healthy church where people encounter Jesus, grow in real community, and become lifelong disciples. Parker has a heart for encouraging pastors, developing leaders, and strengthening the local church, while Jess is passionate about equipping families to build resilient, Christ-centered homes.

More than anything, they believe the local church is God's plan to bring hope to the world, and they consider it one of life's greatest privileges to serve the people of Boulder. They are excited for all God has in store for Pinewood Church and would love the opportunity to meet you.

Pinewood is a place where you can find hope, growth, and home, and discover more of who Jesus is with every sermon, worship song, and conversation.

Our values

Seven things we hold onto.

They are not just what we do. They are how we do it.

01

Jesus is our message

Jesus is at the center of everything we do. Our methods may change but our message remains the same. To learn more about our beliefs visit our beliefs.

02

Connection is our culture

Your connection determines your direction. We believe that the Gospel flies best on the wings of relationship.

03

Generosity is our privilege

It’s not an obligation. It’s a privilege to give to what matters. We believe in the practice of giving time, talents and treasure to what’s eternal.

04

Servant leadership is our calling

The Son of man did not come to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many.

05

Prayer is our priority

If it doesn’t start with prayer, it’s flawed from the beginning. Prayer isn’t our last resort, it’s our first response.

06

Worship is our weapon

Worship is how we fight our battles.

07

Honor is our commitment

We believe in the culture of honor. Jesus calls us to out do one another in showing honor.

Jesus has changed my life through Pinewood Church.

The mission has not changed.

Meet people where they are and point them to Jesus.

What we believe

That sentence is the whole job description, and nine years after the move it is still the one the church works from. One gathering a week, in the city Pinewood was sent to.
